HMS Victory on Victory Oak Base Collectors edition with Cert of Authenticity
Limited Edition of 250 - This beautiful model of HMS Victory, specially commissioned to celebrate the 250th anniversary of her launch in 1765, is mounted on a plinth bordered by timber salvaged from HMS Victory herself and inset with a V made from copper recovered from her hull sheathing plates. This connoisseur's model is a masterpiece of detailing and authenticity. Measuring over 1 metre long the hull is timber planked; the cannon and anchors are metal castings; the standing rigging hull ties are real chain. The detail is simply incredible. The flags shown are: at the bow, the Union Flag; on the mainmast, the George Cross; at the stern, the White Ensign. The 25mm deep plinth border is made from carefully selected pieces of Victory oak which are bonded together by Norfolk-based master craftsman Roger David Burton to make an intriguing mosaic. She is presented with a numbered brass plaque and certificate of authenticity from Andrew Baines, curator of HMS Victory and made under license to the National Museum of the Royal Navy. A royalty from sales goes towards the ongoing preservation of naval heritage, including Victory herself. She measures 110cm long by 82cm high.
